What can Botox do, and what can it not do?
It softens the lines that movement makes. It does not fill, and it is not permanent.

Botox relaxes the muscles that crease the skin when you frown, squint, or lift your brows. It does not restore volume, it does not fill a hollow, and it wears off. In Dr. Ourian's words it usually lasts around two to four months, which is why the result is maintained with regular visits rather than reached once.

Frequently asked questions
Does Botox paralyze your face?
No. It interrupts the signal between nerve and muscle so the muscle stops overcontracting. The nerve and the muscle both keep working, and the effect wears off.
How long does Botox last?
Around two to four months in Dr. Ourian's words, which is why results are maintained with regular treatment. There is no permanent Botox.
Is Botox the same as filler?
No. Botox relaxes the muscles that cause movement lines. Filler restores volume and structure. They are used in different areas for different problems.
Why do some people look frozen after Botox?
Usually because of placement. When some muscles are relaxed and the ones beside them are not, the face moves unevenly. Dr. Ourian watches the patient smile and frown before deciding where each injection goes.
Can anyone get Botox?
Not everyone is a good candidate. Dr. Ourian decides at consultation and will tell a patient when another approach, or no treatment, is the better choice.
