Facial Sculpting & Contouring
Refine facial structure and restore youthful definition without surgery.

The cost of responding to infections in patients who have had a joint replacement can be considerable. Tens of thousands of dollars can be wasted when a single individual has a knee or hip replaced but has to have the synthetic joint removed. This adds up to hundreds of thousands of dollars lost in the U.S. health system as the numbers of people having joint replacement surgeries rises.
If the area around a surgical opening becomes infected, patients experience pain, are prone to needing additional surgery, and need to take antibiotics to combat the problem. Given all of this, such patients frequently require amputation. According to doctors, an infection can linger and grow without being detected for many months, even as long as two years. Fewer than five percent of all patients contract infections, however this amounts to thousands of patients per year.
A lot of infections come from doctors and nurses. Mistakes can be easily made and bacteria get can easily infiltrate a surgical site. The bacteria on one’s own skin often pose the greatest threat of infection.Staph infection is known to affect many people who remain asymptomatic until their bodies are put under pressure. Bacteria remains on the skin even long after a person washes using soap and water. It is very easy for these pathogens to be transported from one part of the body to another, or from the skin into the bloodstream through open incisions.
A federally funded initiative known as Project Joints implemented a regimen to combat the risk of infection in numerous hospitals. Beginning thirty days prior to their scheduled procedure, patients are educated on to how to wash properly before and after a procedure and are given a special preoperative soap to wash with for at least three days prior to an operation.Project Joints also requires that tests be done to discover if staph bacteria is present in a person's body using a nasal swab. The initiative also involves cutting hair around the surgical site rather than shaving, so as to prevent small wounds that would permit bacteria to enter into a patient's bloodstream.
The initiative requires that any incision site be swabbed by nurses with an antiseptic product to remove dirt, bacteria, cosmetics, or whatever remains on the skin immediately prior to the operation. Many doctors also administer precautionary antibiotics, and they also respond aggressively to any positive tests for staph or other infection. The project also suggests that the smallest details cannot be overlooked. It even encourages patients to make sure their sheets are clean when they go to bed the night before they enter hospital for surgery. Studies show that when these measures are taken, rates of infection drop by more than 50%.
Acne breakouts seem to occur at the most inappropriate times. Numerous factors may lead to this problem. Here is a look at eight things that can make a person break out. Contact Epione for your acne treatment options!
Planning for something exciting can cause acne to occur. Events like a vacation or a wedding may be happy times, but can be extremely stressful to plan. Stress causes the immune system to lose control and pimples to erupt. During a stressful time, it may help to take some ibuprofen, which calms inflammation.
Most people use a wide range of products on hair. These items can rub against the face and block skin pores. To prevent breakouts, it will be wise to clean the forehead with salicylic acid.
Most people do not know that the water used to shower can actually lead to acne. Hard water does not properly rinse soap off of the skin. The residue may lead to pimples. To correct the problem, a person may need to purchase an inexpensive water softener.
Pimples may occur on any part of the face. When a person is allergic to certain ingredients in toothpaste, perioral dermatitis can occur. Likely culprits will be fluoride and whitening additives. To avoid or correct the problem, it may be best to temporarily use toothpaste that is free of fluoride.
Although there is no conclusive scientific research that has blamed dairy for acne breakouts, many people believe that the proteins and peptides in milk trigger pimples. To rule out dairy as a problem, it is best to avoid rich latte or creams and drink black coffee. After a few weeks, a person may notice a clearer face.
When a man has stubble and kisses a woman, it can lead to great friction that causes her skin to become irritated and inflamed. A girl's skin can begin to break out. Another thing that may be to blame is the man's heavy aftershave. To solve the problem, a man should shave his face and stop applying cologne to the face. This will keep kissing more comfortable and less likely to cause pimples.
Even though most birth control pills can clear up acne, a change in hormones can cause breakouts. It may be wise to switch brands. A gynecologist will be able to help realign hormone levels and stop pimples.
The sun is known to dry up pimples. However, too much exposure can cause the skin to thicken. This can lead to blocked pores. To avoid this problem, it is always smart to apply an oil free sunscreen that contains UV protection.Breakouts can occur at any time. Instead of reaching for cosmetics to cover up the problem, it is better to get to thee root of the problem. The above things are just a few common reasons why a person may suffer bouts of acne.
The majority of individuals are aware of things like sun, smoking and stress that speed up the aging process and the need for cosmetics and plastic surgery. However, there are a number of surprising things that can also accelerate the visual signs of aging. Here are nine of the lesser-known culprits:
Too little sex is a dismal state of affairs but does it actually speed up the aging process? Sex helps people feel better and promotes immune function. Experts suggest that having sex about two times per week can contribute to slowing down aging.
Photo aging from the sun and radiant heat from a potbellied stove or an open fire are major radiation sources. Extended exposure to those heat sources deteriorates the skin and could actually result in skin cancer.
The American Academy of Dermatology believes that constantly sleeping on the face is among the primary causes of wrinkles. Sleep lines can become etched on the surface of the face when one sleeps in particular positions.
Yo-yo dieters that are known to jump from one "miracle diet" to another need to be aware that these diet offer only short-term results and they accelerate aging as well. Losing weight too rapidly results in the loss of more muscle than fat, and often results in a period of rapid weight gain.
The jury is out on whether radiation from cell phones is bad for our health or not. Yet, it is advisable to play it safe and switch off these devices when sleeping. However, cell phone radiation has been linked to the disruption of sleep patterns and natural hormone cycles, processes vital to youthful appearance.
Frequently pursing the lips causes the muscle to get stronger and creases the lips. As individuals age, their skin loses elasticity and get thinner. Signs of aging can become more prominent after one reaches their forties if they always use a straw when sipping drinks.
Even though low-fat diets are quite popular, there are “good fats” such as those derived from olive oil and avocado, which help us avoid chronic disease and premature aging. Such “good fats” get eliminated from these diets. A healthy and balanced diet can be an effective counter to the visual signs of aging.
Unwashed cosmetics brushes can damage both health and looks. Dirty brushes can result in skin infections and unnecessary breakouts. It is imperative to use spray cleaners, soapy cleansers, and lots of water to keep makeup brushes clean at all times.
The tremendous anti-aging benefits of exercise are undeniable. However, going overboard is counter-productive. Overactive athletes can be afflicted with "facial wearing," which is a haggardly, sunken-in look which require plastic surgery and significant amounts of facial fillers to be reversed.
Among non-supporters of plastic surgery, there is a common viewpoint that people who go under the knife to improve their looks are actually unhappy and unsatisfied individuals. After all, why go through the pain, expense and sometimes extensive recovery period that some surgical procedures require, only to change one’s outward appearance? Surprisingly, the results of a recent study conducted over the long term shows that people who undergo plastic surgery may have just stumbled upon a way to find happiness and satisfaction... and high-end cosmetic surgery have nothing to do with it.
Researchers at Ruhr University Bochum and Basel University conducted a study that attempted to discover the effects of cosmetic procedures on an estimated 550 individuals. The European study, which was released in early March 2013, showed that patients who underwent cosmetic surgery reported an increase in confidence following their procedure. To impose a control on the study group, the researchers surveyed 264 individuals who wanted to have a plastic surgery procedure but decided not to go through it, and 1000 individuals who were not interested in undergoing any cosmetic enhancement. Of the participants in the study, women comprised 87% of the patients who chose to have plastic surgery. There was no noteworthy difference seen in members of the groups when it came to unhappiness and life satisfaction. There was also little difference among participants when it came to issues such as mental well being.
Researchers used what is known as the "Goal Attainment Scale" as an instrument for psychological testing. The scale is designed to determine what patients thought and felt using open questions in addition to providing a choice between ten categorical aims. The questions also included two unrealistic goals, which stated that the patient hopes to become a new person completely and that he or she will be able to overcome problems once the aesthetic ideal is achieved. Of all respondents, only twelve percent chose these answers. The majority of patients opted for the more realistic goals, such as eliminating blemishes and imperfections, improving their self-confidence and feeling better.
The subjects were all tested prior to surgery and several times post-op. They were asked to undergo the survey again 3, 6 and 12 months after the procedure. An average number of participants claimed that they have reached their goals and that they are satisfied with the results over the long term. Here is the more interesting part: compared to individuals who opted against plastic surgery, patients who underwent cosmetic procedure said they felt healthier, had improved self-esteem, felt less anxious and were much more confident about the attractiveness of their body. Researchers also did not observe any negative effects on the participants as a result of their plastic surgery procedure. As a result of feeling better about themselves, the participants turned out to enjoy a better level of happiness than those who did not undergo plastic surgery.
Choosing a doctor can be difficult. At first glance, the need for patients to have an empathetic physician may not seem that important. However, for frequent care, or any surgery or procedures, having a doctor that one likes and trusts is quite important. Doctors should be chosen based on more than just location, recommendations, and experience. There are several traits patients should look for when selecting a new doctor.
A new study conducted at Michigan State University indicates that having an empathetic doctor can decrease the awareness of pain. Research had already proven that patients with empathetic doctors had better health outcomes, but this is the first study of its kind to show that empathetic doctors can impact pain perception. It is recommended that patients pay attention to how their physician makes them feel. If the physician is not empathetic, it may be time for a new doctor.
A quality doctor should take the time to listen to patient concerns. Even if he or she has a waiting room full of patients to see, each patient should be made to feel as if they are the only patient at the time. Correctly diagnosing a condition and prescribing a medication or treatment requires doctors to slow down and pay attention to their patients as individuals.
Doctors should always be well rested and on high alert. Doctors who do not sleep well, or sleep very little, can be more dangerous and their judgment can be lacking. Patients who see a doctor that yawns constantly or appears frequently with circles under their eyes may want to look for a new physician. Many people do not know that patients have the right to ask their doctor if they have received adequate rest.
Good doctors are not necessarily the ones who have been in practice the longest. Many times newer doctors know best when it comes to newer procedures and the latest treatments. Local teaching hospitals can offer doctors who have experience with the latest in new procedures and techniques. It can be especially beneficial to have a newly trained doctor when having a laparoscopic, robotic, or cosmetic procedure.
A good doctor also listens to and validates patient concerns, as trivial as they may seem to the doctor. Patients should feel comfortable speaking to their doctor about anything and not feel judged. A doctor who criticizes or dismisses concerns or lifestyles is probably not one that is trusted and should be dismissed from patient care.
Quality doctors should always keep their patient relationships professional. Flirting or discussing personal details of a patient's life takes the relationship out of the medical realm and is unethical. This behavior can make doctors less focused on patient care and the health of their patients. Patients are less likely to discuss some of their embarrassing health issues or cosmetic concerns if the doctor-patient relationship seems more than friendly.Finding a good doctor can be a difficult task. However, patients who have doctors with all of these traits are predisposed to be happier and healthier. With health and happiness on the line, it is important to find a doctor who has empathy, takes the time to listen to and validate concerns, keeps the relationship professional and keeps up to date on advancements in the practice.
There are a wide variety of different cosmetics procedures that a person seeking fat reduction can undergo. Bariatric surgery, liposuction, laser fat reduction, ultrasound, and cold therapy that freezes one’s fat away have been popular methods of reducing fat. Until now, however there was no way to effectively get quality fat reduction from a cosmetic operation without pain or extensive. A new treatment, however, may be the fat-buster that countless people are hoping for. The Vanquish device, manufactured by BTL Aesthetics in Massachusetts, seeks to eliminate excess quantities of body fat by using radio frequencies to eliminate the bulk carried around in the midsection and thighs without harming (or even touching) a patient's body.
If one is seeking cosmetic fat reduction surgery, they may not be particularly pleased by their options. A liposuction treatment, for instance, will suck the fat right out of one’s belly or thighs, but will leave you sore for weeks, sometimes unable to sit down without pain and bruises. An ultrasound machine will break up fat molecules deep within your body, but can also damage organs, requiring strong pain medication. A cold therapy routine will freeze away one’s fat, but in order to do so one must go back for weeks or even months of treatment and be subject to having to take painkillers. Other treatments (some not approved by the FDA) involve injecting chemicals that can leave a patient swollen and sore.
By heating up the body tissues, it is possible to accelerate the burning of fat. Heating muscles, after all, is what happens during high intensity exercise, requiring fat cells in order to power the heat and then deliver healing nutrients to the area. The Vanquish machine uses radio waves in order to heat up the interior of our waist or legs or arms and obliterate fat. Though it uses deep-tissue heating in order to burn away body fat, one does not experience hot sensations, as skin is heated up to about 101 degrees Fahrenheit, only three degrees warmer than normal body temperature. Patients who went under the Vanquish's radio waves reported feeling warm, and that it felt as if they were standing in front of a heating vent.
To get the full benefit from Vanquish, it is necessary to receive four treatment sessions, once a week, in order to evenly melt away the fat from the target area of the patient’s body. Since the body does heat up and sweat, patients will need to drink water both before and after treatment. Many of the dead fat cells will be swept out with liquid waste, so not drinking water can lead to blockages. To date, no patients have made complaints about pain or damage to their skin or underlying muscle mass.
Recently, research gave wine lovers another reason to raise their glasses – this time for its supposed anti-aging benefits. Resveratrol, a chemical found in red wine and cocoa has already been speculated to reduce blood pressure in men and help maintain motor balance in the elderly. Now with anti-aging benefits to boot, is resveratrol can become the new darling of the cosmetics industry.
Resveratrol is an antioxidant with a polyphenolic structure, naturally found in both red wine and cocoa. It belongs to a group of 600 antimicrobial chemical compounds collectively named phytoalexins. Plants produce phytoalexins to fight infections, change in weather, extreme climates, ultraviolet light and other severe conditions. The research for resveratrol is not without its set of challenges. Most of the data was collected using laboratory mice and not humans, for example. A 2012 study gave resveratrol to mice with balance issues, and after receiving high doses for at least a month; the mice were able to walk across a balance beam with no problems. This same effect would be problematic to gauge in humans simply because it would take 700 bottles of red wine for humans to get the same concentration of resveratrol in their systems. This much alcohol is lethal.
Most prominent studies that link resveratrol with anti aging benefits have been around for only a few years. Its anti aging benefits have not been detailed yet but the cosmetics industry seems to be giving it a hard chase already. Many spas around the world including Les Sources de Caudalie in France and Aire Ancient Baths in New York have tipped their traditional spa bath infusions and replaced them with tubs full of red wine. A skincare brand named Resvology also sells products with an ester of the compound that they claim erases fine lines and wrinkles.
The Mayo Clinic has stated that the human body does not readily absorb oral resveratrol supplements. Different studies imply different methods for intake of the chemical. A 2005 study published in the National Institutes of Health reports that when researchers applied resveratrol externally on the skin of animals and exposed them to ultraviolet radiation, the compound protected the subjects from skin damage. Another study published in October 2012 in Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology reported that a 60-day course of orally administered resveratrol improved moisture, softness, elasticity and complexion in subjects.Resveratrol is touted as perhaps the most effective sunblock found in plants and animals. With anti aging benefits, UV protection, cancer prevention and improved motor control in its roster of benefits, resveratrol may soon become a very popular antioxidant in the cosmetics industry.
It's a skin condition that leaves millions begging for brighter days. It can elicit worry in even the most self-assured. Acne is one of the most undesirable conditions out there today. Unfortunately, it's also one of the most ubiquitous. 85% of the population will have experienced it. It's like an unfortunate rite of passage; after all, it primarily effects our youth. Those undergoing the hormonal changes of puberty are apt to be more affected. Yet they’re not the only ones, not by a long shot. Even adults may still suffer from severe cases of acne. Even if new pustules don't develop, scars from the past can constantly degrade confidence.
Medical science is proving its ingenuity once more with an incredible breakthrough. Scientists have been using DNA science to discover better ways to treat acne and skin conditions. Ironically enough, a recent study published in the Los Angeles Times indicates that the source of our new hope against acne comes from what may appear to be the source of the problem in the first place: bacteria.
The study is one part of a push by the National Institutes of Health to map the human microbiome -- the trillions of microbes living inside and on our bodies that have been evolving along with humans.Much of the focus so far has been on the study of the species of bacteria in the gut. The Human Microbiome Project has also been looking at communities of microbes living in the nasal passages, mouth, and the skin.
DNA sequencing has determined that this bacteria is in fact related to the type that we suspect brings about acne. Potentially, this discovery is could lead to the development of treatments that selectively target only the "bad" bacteria that cause acne, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach. Yet, despite this relation, it's just different enough to actually cause an opposite effect that will help individuals remove their acne.
The specific type of bacterium used is called Propionibacterium acnes or P. acnes. As its name implies, this is what we suspect causes acne in the first place. However, DNA sequencing allowed scientists to discover an entirely new strain of the bacterium. The idea may seem strange to some, but the discoverers likened it to a more familiar species, cannis familiaris, or the domesticated dog. Dogs are still called dogs, but there's a huge difference between a Mastiff and a Chihuahua. The separate DNA structure actually allows this strain to combat acne in such a way that it neutralizes the bad bacterium. The researchers in charge of the study believe that this research is extremely promising. It's already helped volunteers rid themselves of their acne. While they were utilizing the P. acnes their skin was clearer than without it. Hopefully down the road, this will be a viable way to treat acne and prevent scarring.
With the faltering economy, one might expect that plastic surgery would take a back seat to other priorities in private life. Typically, when times are hard, consumers cut back on the extras in life.
The innovation of minimally invasive procedures such as Botox and fillers has been the driving factor causing the number of plastic surgery requests to decline. These treatments provide the opportunity to undergo less costly and less risky procedures. In fact, a close look at the data shows that more typical plastic surgeries fell slightly in popularity, but the demand for Botox and other minimally invasive procedures rose measurably.
Procedures such as chemical peels and most laser skin resurfacing and laser hair removal treatments typically have a lower risk of side effects and feature recovery times of only a few hours or days. Until recently, many plastic surgery procedures required invasive surgical techniques and involved long and often recovery periods in addition to the risk of complications.
Curiously, the stagnant economy has not dragged down the plastic surgery industry. A report in USA Today shows that requests for plastic surgery procedures actually went up in 2012, more than three full years after the full effects of the economic crisis were initially felt. Surgeons performed nearly 15 million such procedures, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).This rise was not an unexpected either. Plastic surgery has been rising in popularity for years and never seemed to take a back seat like other so-called luxuries during hard times.
There are several theories as to why traditional plastic surgeries are declining while minimally invasive procedures are increasing. It’s may be simply a matter of economic: people have less discretionary money to spend and minimally invasive procedures are typically cheaper than surgical ones. In either case, it’s not likely that an elective cosmetic procedure will be covered by insurance.Alternately, it’s possible that people are just taking better care of themselves and have less need for drastic, invasive surgeries and that minimally invasive procedures are sufficient to effect the changes they desire. Given the reported figures on obesity, this seems somewhat implausible.
Exercise can cause many skin problems. When a person participates in outdoor activity, this can lead to sun damage. There are numerous cosmetic treatments available that can alleviate the spots and wrinkles associated with the problem.Proper skin care is essential if one wants to stay healthy and retain a youthful appearance. Skin that is repeatedly exposed to the sun and other elements will not only appear dry and become wrinkled and unsightly; it can become the perfect target for toxins and carcinogens. Add the use of cosmetics or the wrong skin care products, and the results can be deadly.
The first step in repairing sun damaged skin is to remove all of the skin cells that have been harmed and actually go down to the next layer of new cells that have not been directly exposed to the sun. Chemical peels are a popular technique available to accomplish this task. The result can be new, healthy skin that is free to breathe and is not clogged with old cells or other impurities. You will look younger and healthier and enjoy the feel of soft, rejuvenated skin.
Another popular treatment is a form of Microdermabrasion. This process sprays an area of the skin with a concentration of tiny crystals, under pressure, which exfoliates the skin and is then immediately vacuumed away along with the discarded skin cells. The top layer of skin is literally erased, leaving new, smoother, fresher skin behind. The process is very precise. Though some patients report a slight tingling sensation, the process requires no anesthetic. Because it requires no recuperation time, patients can return to normal activities immediately.Microdermabrasion does not require any surgical techniques and does not go beyond the topical layers of the skin. This procedure is considered safe, yet the results can be seen immediately, even after the initial procedure. In a period as short as six to eight weeks, one can have a healthier complexion and younger looking skin, which is free of sun damage and other noticeable flaws or damage. This treatment also provides the removal of fine lines, scar reduction, diminished pores and the removal of most age spots.
Microdermabrasion and chemical peels along with other treatments such as CoolFrax Laser treatment can be the answer to looking years younger and feeling better about your health and appearance without surgery or other invasive procedures.
After treatment, using only the finest cosmetics and skin care products, avoiding direct sun exposure without the use of an SPF 30 or greater sunscreen, will keep your skin looking and feeling younger and healthier than it has in years.Proper skin care after treatment will also mean you do not need to repeat the process every few months or that the results may fade If you are suffering the effects of exercised induced skin problems contact Epione.

Last minute liposuction, Botox and other procedures are performed by the best in the world to create the most perfect body possible.
It has long been a hallmark of the aesthetic medicine that people are always looking to lose weight. This makes it all the more surprising that new techniques in fat treatment are gaining in popularity which are focused on putting fat back in the body instead of taking it out. The BBC reported that this year marked the first time in the that more patients were undergoing operations in order to inject fat into different areas of their body rather than use an operation to suck it out. While liposuction and tummy tucks remain popular options, these injections is toppling the scales on fat and beauty.
The average person living in the United States and United Kingdom is much heavier than the average weight of the world and of their forefathers. The rate of fat reduction surgeries, however, has largely kept pace with the rate of fat retention over the past few decades. In previous years, nearly three thousand women in the UK alone sought to go under the knife in order to have fat vacuumed out of their midsection in the process of a liposuction. This figure, however, was surpassed by the number of women who want to get a fat transfer operation.
There are several reasons to have a fat replacement treatment and not all of them have to do with aesthetic beauty. For older men and women, the quantity of fat in their face, hands, and feet drops with age. This makes skin drier and firmer, gives less cushion for impact, and leaves hands less able to deal with extremes like hot and cold objects. By injecting the excess fat around the waist and hips into the extremities of the body it is possible to look and feel younger with the additional fat in the facial features.
The overwhelming majority of patients seeking fat treatment, whether it is an insertion or an extraction, remain women. Nearly ten times as many women as men choose to have plastic surgery, while most men prefer nose jobs and eyelid operations rather than liposuction. Fewer men, as well, prefer to have fat injected into their hands and face. A total of forty thousand plastic surgical operations are conducted each year in the United Kingdom, with one in four being breast implants for women. The increase in fat injections has risen at about ten percent each year and seems to be holding steady.
Fat transfer is a fairly simple treatment. The side effects are reported to be minimal, with minor puffiness and swelling with the extra fat added to tight skin. Results can be seen quite quickly with the injection, since the fat quickly fills out the face and provides better volume to the area.
Some of the common cosmetic procedures include butt lifts, Botox injections, facelifts, breast implants, and chin lifts. Before going under the knife, however, it is important to choose a surgeon carefully. Here are some of the key items that should be on one’s cosmetic surgery checklist:
Every surgical procedure, no matter how trivial, is risky. Therefore, one should always choose a qualified physician. Ask friends and family for referrals.
Although most plastic surgeons provide patients with detailed information, one should research on the surgical procedure they want to get comprehensively. Most importantly, find out the benefits as well as risks associated with the procedure. In addition, find out about the length of the recuperation period. Some of the other aspects that one should investigate thoroughly include the cost, non-invasive alternatives, and post operation care and checkups.
After choosing a physician, schedule a consultation preferably a one-on-one meeting with the physician who will carry out the procedure. By doing so, one would enable the physician to evaluate their medical history and plan the most appropriate treatment approach. During the consultation, one can express any concerns that they might have to the surgeon. If the physician advises against the procedure, do not rush to another physician immediately. Instead, find out why the physician does not recommend going through with the cosmetic procedure.
While many people have an idea of how they would like to look after a cosmetic procedure, the outcome does not always meet patients' expectations. Remember physician do not have magical powers to give patients film star. As such, make expectations and goals clear to the physician. It may not be possible for one to achieve the particular look that they want. It is advisable to talk to patients who have had the same procedure in the past. This way, you will be able to have realistic expectations.Additionally, one should take time to carry out a thorough background research of the cosmetic procedure you intend to get. Finally, make sure the physician provides follow-up care.
Brandi Glanville of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame recently revealed in her memoir the cosmetic procedure she underwent to get back at ex-husband actor Eddie Cibrian for his infidelity. The procedure, called gynocosmetology, is more commonly known as vaginal rejuvenation. It is a purely cosmetic procedure, one that is designed to modify the structure and appearance of a woman's genitals. It is not as popular as, say, breast augmentation but demand for this procedure is increasing. In 2009, over 50,000 vaginal rejuvenations were performed in the United States alone. So is Brandi Glanville on the right track with her decision to undergo this type of surgery? Just what is vaginal rejuvenation, what is involved and is it a good option for women considering it?
Vaginal rejuvenation is a type of reconstructive cosmetic surgery involving parts of the female genitalia, such as the vulva, the mucous membrane and the vaginal canal. It is usually performed on women whose private areas have been altered physically due to a birth defect, trauma, injury, disease or childbirth. Aside from creating an improved appearance, the procedure may also strengthen, reshape and firm up the outer areas to create a more youthful appearance. It is the equivalent of having a face-lift in that it helps improve the appearance of the outer genitals. The procedure is performed using a laser.Vaginal rejuvenation, such as the one performed on Brandi Glanville is usually a combination of procedures such as vaginoplasty and labiaplasty. Vaginoplasty refers to a surgical procedure where the patient's vaginal canal is tightened. A procedure called hymenoplasty may also be performed, wherein ruptured hymen is reconstructed. In labiaplasty, the labia or outer lips of the vagina are reduced or enhanced cosmetically in order to change the shape. Part of the labia is removed and the muscles and soft tissues near the area are tightened.
In some cases, the surgery may be necessary. Reduction of the labia is often indicated for women who suffer from chronic irritation due to sports, sex or tight clothes. Once the area has been changed physically, they usually no longer complain of discomfort.
The surgery is performed in a clinic or hospital and is generally an outpatient procedure. The patient will be put under general anesthesia, which should reduce the pain and discomfort for several hours during and post-surgery. Patients are prescribed painkillers and antibiotics to prevent infections. Recovery is relatively short, and patients can expect to move around in just a few days. Results are often visible in 2 to 3 weeks.
Brandi Glanville's surgery, while successful, was not without risks. It is still a surgical procedure, one that could lead to bleeding, infection and development of scar tissues. Nerve endings may also be severed, resulting to the loss of feeling and sensation after the operation. In some women, however, the loss of feeling is temporary and they eventually recover in a few weeks or a few months.
Epione Medical Corporation, located in Beverly Hills’ Golden Triangle, now offers laser liposuction treatment. Laser liposuction uses special equipment to eradicate localized fat deposits from various parts of the body. The equipment disrupts fat cells in the body, and tighten skin tissue through coagulation.According to cosmetic surgeons, laser guided liposuction is minimally-invasive. As a result, patients do not normally lose blood or bruise as much as they might during a standard liposuction. The result may be that patients who receive this treatment generally experience a shorter recovery period.
Those seeking to undergo the procedure must older than 18 years of age and in good health, be on an active diet plan or fitness regimen and have discernible pockets of fat in certain regions of the body. Additionally, patients must not have any cardiovascular or blood related ailments such as diabetes or high blood pressure.Anyone that believes that laser liposuction may be for them must first obtain a consultation. The attending physician will sit down with the patient to discuss the treatment options available. Laser liposuction is among the many cosmetic procedures that Epione offers.
This cutting-edge fat reduction technique uses laser-assisted lipolysis equipment that disrupts fat cells in the body through coagulation and tightens the surrounding tissue.
To perform the procedure, a cosmetic surgeon puts the client under local anesthesia to reduce discomfort. The doctor then inserts a small cannula into the target area of the body. The small cannula contains a laser fiber that delivers busts of energy directly into the subcutaneous fat cells in the body causing them to undergo a reaction that disrupts their structure in a similar way to melting. The laser energy also cauterizes the surrounding tissue causing skin collagen to retract and tighten. The cosmetic technician adjusts the laser machine's wavelength depending on a client's skin color, weight, and fat distribution.
After the procedure, clients normally rest briefly until the effects of the anesthetic wear off. Suitable clients with weight concerns can now receive laser liposuction from Epione Beverly Hills. Clients can begin treatment soon after the attending surgeon confirms their eligibility for treatment. Contact Epione today for a private consultation on this advanced fat removal procedure.
While cosmetic surgery has been around for decades, the growth rate seen last year was quite astounding. It has been estimated that the global market for a wide range of cosmetic procedures has grown by 10%. Furthermore, experts in the field are expecting to see a similar growth rate this year. There are many factors that are driving this growth. First of all, the market in developing countries such as Asia has grown exponentially, as more and more women want to retain the beauty of their youth and get rid of blemishes such as acne, moles and cellulite. The overall cosmetics market has also grown in Asia and, like plastic surgery, is set to continue growing.
At the same time, it is not just the Asian market that is growing. Market growth in Europe is set to exceed six percent. However, unlike in Asia, European market growth is powered by those who are getting on in years and want to retain their youth through surgical procedures and interventions such as Botox and facelifts.
Naturally, some forms of cosmetic surgery are more popular than others. Anti-wrinkle injections, laser treatment and liposuction are presently high in demand. Breast augmentations are set to become more popular in 2013 than they were last year, as last year's growth in this sector was hampered by a European scandal involving faultily made implants that contained unauthorized silicone filler.
Because cosmetic surgery is becoming increasingly popular, many people are thinking of it more and more. Some procedures are non-invasive while others require full anesthesia and an extended recovery time. Whatever the case, those who are interested in having one or more treatments will find that now may be a good time to have the treatment in question done.Naturally, not every single city or even country has a wide range of cosmetic surgery options. This is why many people opt to go abroad in order to have one or more surgical procedures performed.
Plastic surgery can be performed on both men and women, although women are more likely to seek treatment than men. There is a wide range of procedures that can be performed and while some are more complex than others, each procedure is designed to bring out the best in one's physical form and eliminate flaws in bodily appearance. Given all that this form of surgery has to offer, it is not surprising that is becoming increasingly popular with people from all ages and cultural backgrounds and it is reasonable to assume that growth in this sector will continue for some time to come.
Since she came into the spotlight of the British Royal family, Kate Middleton has become one of the biggest fashion icons of our time. Noted for her exceptional taste and penchant for unique hats, Kate has set style standards for women around the world. Not only has her taste for fashion set standards but her physical appearance has been strived for as well. Many women have sought after Kate's fresh features through plastic surgery. The public has especially adored her nose and some women now undergo rhinoplasty in an attempt to have a nose like Kate's.
Some women are so enamored by Kate's look they spent thousands on plastic surgery to emulate it. They take photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge to their plastic surgeon to request a procedure designed to copy the nose.Millions of American women use surgical cosmetics to enhance their look and often build more self-confidence and attention from the opposite sex. While procedures like rhinoplasty may seem expensive, no one should ever try to cut costs when it comes to permanent physical reconstruction. Only the highest caliber of treatment should be sought.
The procedure has evolved to become today's "nose job." An incision is made in the columnella that separates the opposing chambers of the nose. The surgeon then uses fine, sterile tools to reshape the nose to the specifications the client wants. It is then stitched back together and given time to heal. Bleeding and risk of infection are common after treatment but diligent care is the best way to avoid any complications. Always follow the doctor’s instructions to a letter. It is important to note that women seeking a nose such as Kate Middleton's may not be perfectly happy with results. It is serious procedure and ample research and doctor consultation should always precede it in order to ensure that the patient is receiving a nose that fits their face.Nevertheless, many women have seen great boosts in confidence and personal feelings of attractiveness after a nose job. Some women who find bumps or uneven angles unpleasant can have them smoothed out. Others can see an overall reduction in the size of the features so they are smaller and may be perceived as more attractive.
The procedure is done on an outpatient basis. Because of medicine administered, patients should always have a ride to and from the clinic. Any medication used after the treatment should be acquired in advance so it is ready immediately during recovery. In addition, it is important that women who smoke do not have cigarettes for two weeks before the procedure. Nicotine can lead to bad reactions with the anesthetic.Women who seek more subtle changes in their nose may benefit from non-surgical rhinoplasty. This procedure uses injections of filler that can change size and texture of the nose. Women should always consider non-surgical options first and also seek professional opinions regarding their self-perception and how to boost self-confidence.

More commonly known as Botox, injecting skin with botulinum toxin creates much less flexibility and tightens up the appearance of facial features. Botox is one of the longer lasting solutions, since it can entirely eliminate select cells that cause the skin and muscles to bunch up. Botox, unlike a peel, will only be applied to certain regions, since over-usage would cause nearly no muscle movement whatsoever. Usually, a Botox injection will be applied to celebrities' foreheads to combat wrinkles. Since it starts working quickly, Botox can be applied only a few days before a big event.

Many patients think that hair transplantation consists mainly of removing punch grafts or plugs of hair from other parts of the head and transplanting it on the bald spots. The truth is that there are other techniques that can be used to address baldness through a surgical approach. Depending on the case and on the patient's preference, techniques such as strip grafts, tissue expansion, scalp reduction and scalp flaps may also be used. The surgical approach has improved remarkably in recent years, so patients can expect better results permanently. Hair transplantation is effective because it takes a portion of the unaffected hair and moves it to the damaged area. This may result in permanent hair growth, and your transplanted hair will grow just as the other healthy hairs on one’s scalp.
Botox may be used with a cocktail mix of vitamins and injected directly into the scalp in order to stimulate hair follicles, encourage blood flow and improve scalp tissues. This treatment creates a healthy environment in the scalp, preparing it for the growth of new, healthy hair.

Given the increased costs of healthcare in the country, people are resorting to technology to keep track of their health, regularly monitor common symptoms, revamp their exercise and diet plans, and plan timely visits to the GP to get health concerns addressed professionally. Smartphone apps and online consultation facilities are now available to monitor health and seek advice for common ailments and health conditions without having to rush to the doctor for a checkup.
Most of the urban and semi-urban population today can afford a smartphone. A smartphone is neatly customized with a set of smartphone apps, including those that track heartbeat, blood pressure, weight, time and distance covered on this morning's regular walk or jog, mental sharpness, mood fluctuations, etc. The number of healthcare smartphone apps and their scope is steadily on the rise, capturing vital data that can later be of use to pinpoint the exact problem.Reportedly 13,000 health and fitness apps are in the market right now, with at least 21 % of the people choosing to track their health with the help of smartphone apps.
They certainly cannot replace a physician but can, in fact, provide a lot of data that could help early diagnosis of the problem. The smartphone or other technology devices help people to record health parameters at frequent or prescribed intervals, which may not otherwise be possible unless admitted to the hospital. It is this data that helps doctors with their diagnosis. These devices and smartphone apps save lots of time and effort for both doctors and patients, and makes consultation and diagnosis relatively simpler, especially in cases of cosmetic treatment.People often experience a range of skin problems such as acne, moles, blemishes, or tonal changes, either due to health issues or use of cosmetics. One smartphone app helps users keep track of acne and moles, by carefully tracking their changes in terms of visual appearances. Pictures can be stored and compared to either diagnose problems early or gauge the effectiveness of a cosmetic product.
Modern technology has made it easier to treat common skin problems, especially on the face, using minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. Epione Medical Corporation offers a range of face treatments to effectively address acne, wrinkles, discoloration and other common problems.Procedures such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion (scrubbing the skin and rejuvenating with a spray of fine crystals that remove the dry or dead cells) and promote a younger skin tone in the process may be quite successful in restoring the skin to a healthy state.
