Acne, Acne, Acne
Acne treatments can be effective with the right technique.Acne is a common disease of the pilosebaceous unit, which is made up of a hair follicle, sebaceous gland, and a hair. Most pimples form on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders because these are where the quantity of pilosebaceous units is greatest. A substance called sebum is the produced by the body in order to keep the hair and skin moisturized. Unfortunately certain bacteria use sebum as a nutrient. The more sebum present, the more bacteria will be present too. Sometimes these bacteria will attract white blood cells that, in turn, produce an enzyme that allows the contents of the hair follicle to enter the dermis leading to red bumps and pustules. Sometimes sebum will plug up the hair follicles leading to whiteheads and blackheads. Many treatments are available for acne these days, including a number of home remedies. Unfortunately, these remedies can range from completely ineffective to downright dangerous. Professional treatments can be overly expensive and also ineffective. In addition, these popular treatments tend to work on lighter skin tones. Olive and darker skin tones tend to develop keloids, or raised scarring on the site of treatment. However, there is one treatment available that is not only effective, but suitable for all skin types. Coolaser treatments, done by Epione in Beverly Hills, are successful for every shade of skin, avoiding scarring and other complications. The Coolaser treatment is a very simple procedure. The surface of the area to be treated is cooled down and a special light is used to destroy one ten millionth of an inch of skin at a time. This allows for more detailed treatment of blemishes; the cosmetic physician can stay on the surface or go deeply as needed. This ensures the best result possible. There are advantages to the Coolaser treatment. As stated before, it works well for every skin treatment. In fact, Coolaser is preferred by people with darker complexions. The healing time is considerably lessened as well, since Coolaser does not rely on intense laser use. The treatment can be used on different parts of the body, such as the face and neck. And last but not least, Coolaser is an outpatient procedure. The entire process takes only 10–15 minutes.People who have used the Coolaser treatment have nothing but positive things to say about it. One person on the site acne.org writes that she used to have a terrible acne problem as a young woman, which continued into her adult life. She tried a number of different treatments, but nothing seemed to work. As a last resort, she tried the Coolaser treatment. Initially, she worried that the results would not be what she was looking for, but as the treatments progressed, her skin gradually cleared up. As a result, she highly recommends it to others.Coolaser treatment is an excellent way to treat lifelong skin blemishes and acne. It is faster and allows for a quicker healing time than other methods, and works no matter what your skin color.
Professional Skin Care Fights the Signs of Age
Women and men who want young and healthy skin can attain it with the right skin care products.Professional skin care products can keep adult skin looking young and healthy. Aging is a fact of life. However, if you take two people of the same age and place them side by side, one may look older than the other. The signs of aging are exacerbated by what we do to our bodies.Answer these questions:
- Do you exercise?
- Do you eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables?
- Do you avoid cigarettes?
- Do you avoid the sun and use sunblock when you are in the sun?
- Do you work to avoid stress?
- Do you use the right skin care products?
All of the above are important for healthy skin and if your answers to the above questions are "no's" you may look older than others your same age. However, it's never too late to take care of our skin and signs of premature aging can be attacked immediately if we take the important steps to improve our skin. One of the most important steps we can take is using the right skin care products. All skin care products are not created equal. Although there are many products available in various price ranges from various sources, professional skin care products formulated by a qualified physician may offer the best results.Epione Signature Series Crèmes for example were borne out Doctor Simon Ourian™ frustration with the effectiveness of over-the-counter creams available to his patients. So he began blending his own creams and making them available only to his patients. After realizing that his patients preferred his creams own creams to the beautifully packaged name brand products available elsewhere. Eventually, Doctor Ourian™ partnered with a laboratory to further develop his formulas, incorporating the latest advances in technology and science. Says Doctor Ourian™, "I was looking for a real solution for my patients' number one challenge—sun damage; it destroys collagen and skin tone, causes wrinkles and discoloration and generally makes people look older. It's the underlying reason that most of my patients come see me, whether they're aware of it or not."Signs of age including fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots, blotches, and other discolorations on the face can be improved with professional skin care products. These products include eye creams, moisturizers, cleansers, sun block and more. Your face can look years younger with the proper products.
Botox - the Facial Line Eliminator
The appearance of lines on the face are a significant sign of aging. Today, those lines can be eliminated with FDA approved Botox.Lines on the face, one of the first signs of aging, can be eliminated with the help of Botox. From the time a person is born through their 20's, and for some, even into their 30's, their faces exhibit few if any lines. However, as time goes on, a host of factors such as age, the sun, diet, and stress can wreak havoc on the skin. One of the first instances where this damage becomes apparent is in the appearance of lines on the forehead, around the eyes, around the mouth and more.A proper diet, avoiding smoking, staying out of the sun and protecting yourself when you're in the sun, can help with lines on the face, but eventually they will come. Some people are not bothered by facial lines. However, many others are, and they are seeking solutions to reduce their appearance. It may be possible to reduce the appearance of fine lines with topical products that include Retin A and alpha hydroxy, for example, but there are other lines that are permanent, requiring a medical solution.Individuals who want to remove these stubborn lines now can with the help of Botox. Botox paralyzes the muscles, leaving you with a smoother appearance. It is a "non-surgical, physician administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles in people." Botox "is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium that reduces the activity of the muscles that create the wrinkles and lines caused by repetitive dynamic movements of the muscles"Botox is a non-permanent solution; the procedure lasts between 3 and 6 months. Therefore, you must return to your cosmetic surgeon for further treatments.Botox is administered with a series of injections. The procedure is quick and painless. Some women have been known to hop over for Botox injections during their lunch breaks. It's that fast. Although you will receive immediate gratification from Botox, it is very important that you follow your doctor's instructions for after care.Botox received FDA approval in 2002 for the temporary treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years of age. Botox is available by prescription only.Epione Beverly Hills is a Diamond Injector of Botox for being in the top 1% of injectors in the United States. Dark circles mar the appearance of a person's face. Today, dark circles can be reduced with the help of advanced cosmetic procedures.Today, no one has to live with dark circles. Advanced cosmetic procedures are available. For women and men who want faces that look as young and as healthy as possible, the last things they desire on their faces are dark circles. These are dark areas under the eyes that can mar the appearance of one's face. Dark circles can make a person look old, tired and unhealthy. What causes dark circles? In addition to factors such as lack of sleep, dark circles are caused by a variety of conditions. For example, heredity is a cause of dark circles. If they run in your family, chances are that could be why you have them. Or, there may be an excess amount of pigmentation under your eyes that runs in your family or ethnic makeup. Dark circles can be caused by skin conditions such as eczema. It can also be caused by allergies. (Rubbing your eyes in these conditions can make it worse.) Colds and infections can create dark circles. Aging is another reason why dark circles can appear under your eyes. Also, they can appear due to a lack of proper nutrition.A good diet, exercise and plenty of sleep are cure alls for just about everything that ails us, but it is not enough for those with chronic dark circles. There are plenty of under eye cosmetics to help with the condition of dark circles, and many of them do the job, temporarily. Once the makeup comes off, the dark circles are still there. There are also special creams that you can buy over the counter and professionally to help with dark circles. Depending on the quality of the brand, these creams have proven to show improvement for some people. Also, there are natural ways to treat dark circles, such as placing tea bags under your eyes. However, one of the best ways to eliminate dark circles is with advanced laser treatments available from qualified doctors. These procedures are non-invasive, quick and require little recovery time. The new advanced therapies work for both light skin, but also dark skin, which in the past has not responded well to traditional laser treatments. Advanced laser treatments may also be combined with fillers for the most attractive result. At Epione Beverly Hills, Medical Director Simon Ourian™, M.D. offers the Coolaser, his proprietary laser system, for the treatment of dark circles. "Depending on the needs of the individual patient I like to combine Coolaser with a filler such as Radiesse® for optimal results," says Doctor Ourian™.

Exclusive Treatment for Stretch Marks
The look of unsightly stretch marks are improved with the exclusive treatment CoolBeam - offered only at Epione Beverly Hills.CoolBeam is a treatment options offered exclusively at Epione Beverly Hills to improve the appearance of stretch marks.Stretch marks are a condition that affects both men and women. When the dermis, which is the layer of skin under the epidermis, becomes stretched due to conditions like weight gain, weight loss or pregnancy, the result are stretch marks. Stretch marks can affect the body in a wide variety of places including the stomach, breasts, upper arms and more.Although stretch marks themselves are not painful, the emotional toll that stretch marks can cause can indeed be painful. The ridges on the skin that stretch marks create can mar the appearance of the skin. Stretch marks become especially apparent in certain situations, such as when participating in warm weather activities where more revealing clothing is commonly worn. For example, women with stretch marks on their stomachs may avoid wearing two piece bathing suits to the beach or the pool because of the embarrassment they feel about having stretch marks. As embarrassing as stretch marks are, they happen to many women, including celebrities. Dr. Simon Ourian™, medical director of Epione Beverly Hills, illustrates, "Quite a few actresses and models come to my clinic and stretch mark removal is at the top of their list of concerns." He goes on to explain, "Stretch marks don't discriminate. If you lose a lot of weight or get pregnant you're likely to get stretch marks, even if you're famous."Although hereditary factors, diet and exercise can help women and men avoid stretch marks, many people will experience the problem sometime in their lives, including 90 percent of pregnant women. Although there are plenty of lotions and creams on the market to combat the problem, in the opinion of Dr. Simon Ourian™ Epione Beverly Hills offers one of the most effective procedures to reduce the appearance of stretch marks — CoolBeam. Can stretch marks vanish? No. They are a dermal scar. However, their appearance can be minimized.Dr. Simon Ourian™, the Medical Director of Epione Beverly Hills, has developed an exclusive treatment that stretch mark victims can consider to help improve the appearance of their skin — CoolBeam. Some consider it "an amazing breakthrough in the treatment of new and old stretch marks." With a series of treatments damaged skin is removed with its revolutionary technique allowing new skin to grow in its place. Typically CoolBeam does not require a recovery period. In the words of Epione patient B.R.: "I'm very pleased with the work done on my hips. The stretch marks were very hard to get rid of. I tried all sorts of creams which were a waste of time and money. At long last I found Epione. My hips are a very intimate part of my body and I am very thankful for Dr. Simon and his services."
Breast Augmentation with Macrolane Implants Available in the US Soon
A revolutionary procedure for breast augmentation, Macrolane, once only available in countries outside of America, will soon be available in the United States.A major development in the art of breast augmentation will become available in the United States — Macrolane. Patients may soon experience the benefits of this procedure that Doctor Simon Ourian™ plans to offer at Epione Beverly Hills.Full, firm breasts that do not sag are the admiration of many. Women, who prided themselves on having attractive breasts when they were younger, often experience a change in their breasts due to aging, nursing, loss of weight and more. Some women who were born with small breasts want breasts that are larger and that fill out their clothes better. In addition, women who have experienced health problems, such as those who have had a mastectomy, look for options. To correct these issues, breast augmentation has been the choice for many women. In the United States, the two implant options for breast augmentation are saline-filled implants and silicone-gel-filled implants. However, there is a product that is available outside of the United States in countries such as the United Kingdom, Italy, Singapore and others. That product is called Macrolane. Macrolane is not currently available in the United States. However, this product will be coming to America soon, pending Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval.Macrolane is a revolutionary non-surgical treatment for breast enhancement. Consisting of injections, the procedure is quick, non-invasive and can last for up to one year. It represents a real option for those women who have avoided breast augmentation because of the surgery and the risks involved.Macrolane is the first hyaluronic acid based product used for body shaping. Patients who undergo a Macrolane procedure experience no overnight stay from surgery and can return to their regular work and other activities in a short period of time. A breast augmentation with Macrolane offers a potentially safer solution than surgery and does not appear to interfere with mammogram testing.Macrolane is also being used to treat other areas of the body. According to the Macrolane's United Kingdom website: Macrolane is a product for volume restoration and contouring of body surfaces. The most common areas for which Macrolane is currently being used include:
- Breasts
- Post liposuction concavities
- Calves
- Buttocks
- Scar revision

Best Migraine Treatment?
Doctor Simon Ourian™ is the Medical Director of Epione Beverly Hills, located in the exclusive shopping, restaurant and hotel enclave in Los Angeles, California. "Botox for migraines is a relatively new treatment," says Doctor Ourian™, "but I've found that for my patients, some of whom suffered migraines for decades, the results are nothing short of miraculous."For those who suffer from them, migraine headaches can be excruciating and debilitating. When a migraine occurs a combination of blood vessels enlarge and the nerve fibers that coil around them release a mixture of chemicals. These chemicals, including serotonin and dopamine, cause pain and inflammation and the swelling of the blood vessels increases the pain. The response of the sympathetic nervous system leads to a cascading of additional symptoms in the intestines causing vomiting, nausea and diarrhea. These intestinal issues also contribute to the ineffectiveness of oral medications taken once a migraine has commenced. Sensitivity to light and sound and blurred vision are also common migraine symptoms attributable to the response of the sympathetic nervous system."The reason that my patients are so enthusiastic about this treatment is that it preventative rather than reactive," continues Doctor Ourian™. "They're not waiting for a migraine to hit them and then coming to me to relieve them of the excruciating pain. With Botox we can actually reduce the frequency of migraines attacks. And at the same time we're reducing the attendant anxiety these patients often suffered waiting for their next migraine to hit. It's really the gift of freedom." One very satisfied Epione patient explains, "I've gone now from about a dozen (migraines) a year down to two a year…and the severity of them has also diminished."Some studies show that as much as 17 percent of females and 6 percent of males in the United States have experienced a migraine headache. "Those numbers seem right to me, about three women to each man, as least as reflected in my practice," states Doctor Ourian™. "The typical treatment itself is non-invasive and quick," says Doctor Ourian™, "I simply inject Botox into the side of the neck, the back of the head near the neck, the brow and forehead; really just a more extensive series of injections than that which I provide my cosmetic patients." (Doctor Ourian™ is a Diamond provider of Botox according to Allergan, Inc. the manufacturer.)How long do the results last? "It's not unusual for a patient to be migraine free for three to six months after each Botox treatment," replies Doctor Ourian™. "I've found, as with other Botox treatments, that the effects may be cumulative. As the muscles become progressively weaker fewer injections may be necessary to achieve the same results or treatments may be scheduled further apart.""As my patients can attest, Botox treatments for migraines are nothing short of life altering. In the time I've been practicing as a physician," concludes Doctor Ourian™, "I have not seen another preventative treatment modality achieve superior results for the prophylactic treatment of migraines than Botox injections."
Best Non-Surgical Nose Job
Beverly Hills cosmetic physician, Doctor Simon Ourian™ M.D. discusses non-surgical alternatives to the traditional rhinoplasty or nose job.April 6, 2009 — The number one cosmetic surgery for years now has been breast augmentation followed at number two by liposuction. But if you are old enough you might remember a time when a nose job was almost a rite of passage for some teens. For some it was a sweet sixteen present or a gift upon turning eighteen. Perhaps the number of surgical nose jobs is declining because previously unavailable non-surgical options have appeared on the scene.Doctor Simon Ourian™, Medical Director of Epione Beverly Hills, located in the exclusive shopping, restaurant and hotel enclave in Los Angeles, California. “I would never knock surgical nose jobs,” says Doctor Ourian™, “in fact, I credit the surgical nose job I had when I was eighteen with igniting my interest in medicine and my decision to eventually devote my practice to aesthetics.”“I was always very self-conscious of my nose and, believe it or not, this caused me to shy away from people. But I was determined to change that so I saved all the money from my after school job and as soon as I turned eighteen I had the procedure done. I have no doubt it changed my life for the better.”“That was more than twenty years ago,” continues Doctor Ourian™, “and I've been able to pass on the gift that was given to me. I'm not a plastic surgeon, I'm a cosmetic physician and in just the past few years we've developed non-surgical options to the traditional rhinoplasty using fillers such as Radiesse. Using Radiesse injections I can hide a bump on the bridge of the nose or balance a nose that appears thicker on one side than the other and overall create the appearance of a straighter more aesthetically plaeasing nose.”Radiesse is typically the filler of choice for non-surgical nose jobs because of its relative longevity. Radiesse is a composed of tiny, smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres suspended in a water-based gel carrier. The consistency of Radiesse makes it an ideal filler for the spongy areas that make up the nose.“The two main advantages of a non-surgical none job”, explains Doctor Ourian™, “are safety and recovery time. There is a risk any time you go under general anesthesia. The non-surgical nose job I perform is done with a local anesthesia. Patients walk in and out under their own power; typically in fifteen minutes or less. And anyone who has had a rhinoplasty knows that the swelling doesn’t completely go down for a year or more. With the non-surgical option you can be back to work the next day and the swelling is gone in a matter of days or week.”“What is the best non-surgical nose job and where can you get it done?” asks Dr. Ourian™. “In my opinion the Radiesse is your best option for a non-surgical nose job. It isn't for me to say who can best perform this procedure. I suggest that any prospective patient do the research, speak with the doctor and work with someone with whom they believe can best achieve their aesthetic goals. My medical practice has been devoted exclusively to aesthetics for more than ten years. I will let my record speak for itself.”
Top Botox Doctor in the United States
Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) February 5, 2009 — Botox, the alternative to a surgical facelift and other more expensive cosmetic procedures, has become the top choice for addressing fine facial lines and wrinkles. Botox has been FDA approved in more than 75 countries for more than 20 different indications, and is the most popular physician-administered cosmetic procedure in the US (surgical and non surgical combined) for the past 5 years. Dr. Simon Ourian™, M.D., of Epione Medical Corporation in Beverly Hills, California, was at the forefront of the launch of Botox, and after ten years performing Botox injections, is regarded as one of the best Botox Doctors in the country. According to Botox producer, Allergan Inc., Dr. Ourian™ is the number one provider of this wrinkle busting treatment, performing more Botox injections on a yearly basis, than any other physician in California. Epione is currently among Allergan’s elite Diamond Program (only awarded to the top 1% injectors in the country).Botox is a relatively simple, 10 minute procedure, consisting of a few tiny injections. No anesthesia is required (a cold pack or anesthetic cream may be used). Using a very thin needle, a physician will administer a tiny injection into multiple sites. Botox side effects are quite minimal. According to many of Ourian's patients, no pain at all is experienced. “Most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite.” Dr.Ourian™ says. Typically, Botox patients experience temporary bruising at the injection site, but no recuperation time is required. Patients can resume normal activity the same day. After receiving Botox treatment, patients can generally expect a noticeable improvement in the reduction of frown lines within days that may continue to improve during the first week after treatment. With proper dosage and technique, the positive effects of Botox treatment can last up to 4 months. Patients should only need the treatment 3 or 4 times a year, which makes Botox the most effective affordable treatment on the market today.“Our Botox injection costs are very competitive. We do our best at Epione to keep the prices of Botox as low as possible, in doing so, never compromising the quality of the Botox we offer.” And seemingly the majority of Ourian's patients agree. “It is quicker than a haircut, less expensive than a dress, and the results are more dramatic than anything else; in 10 minutes.” states long time Epione patient, Patricia J.Over the years Dr. Ourian™ has gained the reputation of being an expert in the placement of Botox, which is very technique-dependent in terms of achieving maximum results. Mary (43), a hair stylist from Los Angeles, has received Botox exclusively from Dr. Ourian™ the past 5 years. “Dr. Ourian™ is by far the best Botox injector I have ever been to. The precision that goes into each injection is astonishing. Dr. Ourian’s technique is unlike any other,” says Mary. Mary ads, “after my Botox treatments with Dr. Ourian™, I am always flooded with compliments. I get the natural look I desire, each and every time.”“Individual facial analysis is the key element necessary for consistently good Botox results,” Says Dr. Ourian™. “I usually hand the client a mirror and say, ‘Let’s discuss the issues that bother you.’ In order to achieve the result my patients are looking for, I believe it is important to carefully listen to all their suggestions, questions, and comments. Once I have an understanding of their expectations and goals, I meticulously address the appropriate areas. It is my personal goal, to achieve the desired results for each my patients.”Dr. Ourian’s popularity and the success of Epione can be attributed to many different factors. 4 Must Know Tips Before A Cosmetic Procedure
Here are some general tips before a cosmetic procedure. It is important to follow these guidelines prior to undergoing a cosmetic procedure and choosing the physician who will provide it:
- Choose a physician with extensive experience doing a variety of aesthetic treatments such as Botox and filler injections and laser skin resurfacing, so he or she can recommend the one that's best for you. Dr. Ourian™ has more than ten years of cosmetic dermatology experience and treated thousands of patients. This is Dr. Ourian™'s passion and his goal for every patient is to help them achieve their aesthetic goals.
- Don't ask your doctor for a specific treatment. Rather, explain what issues you'd like to address and let your doctor offer the solutions. It is important to remember that what you should expect from a physician is not only their physical skill in administering a treatment but their judgment and discernment. You know how you want to look; allow the physician to determine the safest and most effective way to achieve that goal.
- Regulations vary from state to state, so ask your doctor who will be administering your treatment, and if that person permitted to do so under your state's laws. At Epione, Dr. Ourian™ personally administers all Botox and filler treatments. We have no nurse-injectors. And only Dr. Ourian™ offers and administers the Coolaser and Coolbeam treatments.
- Have realistic expectations. While aesthetic treatments can be beneficial, no reputable physician can guarantee results. We are committed to 100% patient satisfaction. To that end, we offer unlimited FREE follow-up appointments. If a patient is unhappy with the cosmetic results of their treatment we do all we can in a safe manner to make them not just a happy client but a dazzled one.
Botox and fillers: The Perfect Combination
At Epione we consider patient education one of our primary purposes. We believe that one key to patient satisfaction is aligning the results we can offer, and do our best to achieve, with the expectations of our patients. Patient education is fundamental to this relationship. And an educated patient typically has a better understanding of the post-procedural at-home aftercare that is often key to maximizing their results.Dr. Ourian™ is a big proponent of combining Botox injections and fillers such as Radiesse, Restylane and Juvederm to achieve optimal results for the patient who wishes to address the wrinkles on her face and obtain a more youthful look. Why Botox AND fillers? It is important to understand and distinguish between two types of facial wrinkles: dynamic and static. Dynamic wrinkles occur in people of all ages. The creases that you see between and around your eyes when you squint are examples of dynamic wrinkles. They appear temporarily when a muscle contracts and causes the overlying skin to crease like an accordion. When Botox is injected into a muscle, it blocks the nerve impulse from reaching that area, and as a result, the muscle weakens. As the muscle weakens, the skin overlying the muscle relaxes and the wrinkles in the skin gradually soften and often disappear.Static wrinkles are always visible, even when all the facial muscles are at rest. Static wrinkles cause the deep grooves between the nose and mouth known as naso-labial folds, or smile lines, and tend to develop in skin that has thinned and stretched as a result of the aging process. Dr. Ourian™ uses fillers to plump up the groove from beneath. There are even some anecdotal reports suggesting that Botox helps slow down the breakdown of the filler due to less movement in the area by reducing muscle contractions.

Get Rid of Sweaty Underarms and Hands Once and For All
Have you ever worn an elegant dress or an amazing shirt out to a special occasion, only to look down in to see immense, embarrassing sweat stains? You may have a personal problem called hyperhidrosis and we at Epione can help you by using Botox. The procedure is quite straightforward. First, your problem area is numbed using a special topical cream, and then a few drops of Botox are injected with a tiny needle. That’s it!Botox was approved by the FDA in 2004 for the treatment of severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating) that is inadequately managed with topical agents. The Botox injected into the underarms inhibits the release of a neurotransmitter, acetylcholine, from nerve cells, blocking the signals that stimulate the eccrine glands to produce sweat. Botox blocks the nerve impulse from reaching the area and, as a result, the sweat glands are inactivated. So go out, be yourself at that big presentation or stressful event and feel self-confident that you’re sweat-free!This is intended to provide general information only. Antioxidants and You!
Antioxidants are chemicals that protect cells by neutralizing external forces (such as damage from the sun, pollution, wind, and temperature) and internal factors (for example, emotions, metabolism, and the presence of excess oxygen). Common antioxidants are Vitamins A, C, E, and beta carotene. These special chemicals assist in skin repair and the strengthening of blood vessels.
Which foods are rich in antioxidants?
Antioxidants are abundant in fruits and vegetables, as well as in other foods including nuts, grains and some meats, poultry and fish. The list below describes food sources of common antioxidants.
- Beta-carotene is found in many foods that are orange in color, including sweet potatoes, carrots, cantaloupe, squash, apricots, pumpkin, and mangos. Some green leafy vegetables including collard greens, spinach, and kale are also rich in beta-carotene.

- Lycopene is a potent antioxidant found in tomatoes, watermelon, guava, papaya, apricots, pink grapefruit, blood oranges, and other foods. Estimates suggest 85 percent of American dietary intake of lycopene comes from tomatoes and tomato products.
- Selenium is a mineral, not an antioxidant nutrient. However, it is a component of antioxidant enzymes. Plant foods like rice and wheat are the major dietary sources of selenium in most countries. In the United States, meats and bread are common sources of dietary selenium. Brazil nuts also contain large quantities of selenium.
- Vitamin A is found in three main forms: retinol (Vitamin A1), 3,4-didehydroretinol (Vitamin A2), and 3-hydroxy-retinol (Vitamin A3). Foods rich in vitamin A include liver, sweet potatoes, carrots, milk, egg yolks and mozzarella cheese.
- Vitamin C is also called ascorbic acid, and can be found in high abundance in many fruits and vegetables and is also found in cereals, beef, poultry and fish.
- Vitamin E, also known as alpha-tocopherol, is found in almonds, in many oils including wheat germ, safflower, corn and soybean oils, and also found in mangos, nuts, broccoli and other foods.

Four Tips for an Incredibly White Smile this Summer!
What is more sexy than a pearly white smile? Here are some tips to make sure your smile stays dazzling.
- Avoid staining drinks like coffee, tea, and soda. If you absolutely need your caffeine fix in the morning, use a straw.
- Make sure to brush your teeth twice a day, or after eating staining foods, such as berries. Be careful not to overbrush though, as this may strip away the enamel and allow staining more easily.
- Easy whitening options are available that you can do right at home. Brushing your teeth with baking soda or hydrogen peroxide (being careful not to swallow) will act as a whitening agent. Lemon juice mixed with a teaspoon of salt also has a whitening effect. While these techniques may not taste good, your smile will thank you.
- A good diet will always prove beneficial. Make sure to get plenty of calcium, as it is vital for strong teeth. Crunchy foods that require lots of chewing—carrots, celery and apples—will help remove built-up plaque as you chew.
