Botox / Dysport After Treatment

Things to do Before the Botox/Dysport Treatment
  1. In order to avoid bruising, it is a good idea to not take any pain relievers that work by thinning your blood, such as Motrin, Tylenol, and Advil. Avoiding alcoholand other blood thinning agents (Vitamin E, fish oil, garlic, etc) for the first several days before and after treatment is recommended as well.
  2. Do not wax, tweeze, bleach, or otherwise use any hair removal product on the area that will be treated. In addition, avoid retinoids and using alpha hydroxy acids that are higher than ten percent.
  3. Botox is not recommended for you if you are breastfeeding or pregnant, allergic to any of the active ingredients, or suffer from a neurological disorder. Consulting with a doctor is important before finalizing any major decisions.
  4. Skin that has been sunburned can be difficult to treat, so avoiding sunlight is recommended before treatment. Additionally, always tell your physician about any medical conditions that you may have so as to customize an ideal treatment plan for you.
Botox and Dysport After-Treatment Instructions
  1. Bruises that occur in the treated areas after the procedure are normal.
  2. We recommend that you take 50mg of Zinc for a minimum of 5 days. Zinc is available in the vitamin section of most drugstores.
  3. Typically it can take two weeks before you see the full effects of the procedure. The human body needs time in order for muscles to lose their strength and for lines to fade after the Botox. Any range of movement is fine, as the point of the treatment is to make the appearance of lines better, and this is not always entirely dependent on the loss of muscle function underneath.
  4. Avoid lying down and leaning forward for about four hours after the treatment. This helps avoid pressuring the treated areas, which will help your muscles relax more naturally. If any small bumps or marks appear, rest assured that they typically go away after a few hours. When applying makeup within four hours of the treatment, use a gentle touch in order to avoid pressuring the area.
  5. Exercising the treated muscles for anywhere between one and two hours is recommended after treatment. Practice squinting, raising your eyebrows, or frown, as this helps work the injected fluid deeper into the muscles. This is purely supplementary, and while it may help, it will not make the areas worse if you forget to do this.
  6. Avoid rubbing the treated sections of your face for up to four hours after the treatment. Do not perform yoga or any other strenuous exercise for up to four hours. Avoid saunas and facials for up to four hours as well, as all of these will reduce the risk of raising blood pressure, which will reduce the risk of experiencing temporary bruising.
  7. The results of the treatment will typically take fourteen days before the full effect is visible. It is important to wait until the end of this time before assessing the results.
  8. Because the Botox or Dysport cosmetic procedure requires specialized techniques to customize the injections for your personal molecular structures, it is crucial to let your muscle activity recover and that your skin is not creasing during the resting period.
  9. This procedure begins as temporary at first, and you will find that the first treatment’s results initially last approximately three to four months. Maintaining a treatment plan with regular appointments will increase each following session’s lasting effects.
